2023-12-22

As Veterans age, some need help to maintain their quality of life. It is important to be able to recognize when someone is experiencing challenges and may require specialized care. A Place for Mom (APFM) provides guidance and services to help you assess and obtain the need for senior care as people grow older.

So how can you recognize the signs that a Veteran needs senior care? Sarah Bumgardner, AAFMAA Director of Partnerships and Member Engagement, spoke with General Dan York, Military Advisor to A Place for Mom for insights. Gen. York is the Founder and Director of Strength as One Leadership, and has served for 36 years in the U.S. Army Reserves. Throughout his career, Gen. York has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the United States Military Academy, West Point and was commissioned as an Infantry Officer in 1981. Gen. York and his wife Kathleen live in Colorado Springs and have three adult children, and several grandchildren.
