When you factor in the costs of tuition, room and board, books, and other educational materials, getting a college education can get very expensive. Military families who have a child going off to college have some options other than loans and financial aid to help defray the cost of higher education. The following scholarship grants are available specifically for members of the U.S. Air Force and their families:
AFA Scholarships
The Air & Space Forces Association offers 12 scholarships to help fund college tuition, dental school, and flight school. Applications are accepted between December 1 and April 30.
AFAS Merit Scholarship
The Air Force Aid Society awards 10 $5,000 merit-based scholarships each year to children of active duty or retired Airmen. The scholarships, which recognize outstanding academic achievement based on GPA, help defray the cost of college tuition.
Airmen Memorial Foundation Scholarship Program
The Airmen Memorial Foundation sponsors scholarships of up to $5,000 for eligible children of active duty or retired USAF, ANG or AFRC members who are up to 23 years of age. The application deadline is March 31.

Scholarships for Military Children Program
Fisher House sponsors this scholarship program, which distributes $2,000 grants through an application process. This program is open to unmarried, dependent children under age 23 whose parent(s) are either active duty or retired from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, or Coast Guard.

Most military installations have local spouse clubs that offer and support their own scholarship programs.
Also, keep in mind that some state associations provide scholarships for residents.
