As one of our policy owners, you can look forward to receiving your 2017 Annual Policy Statements soon. An important part of a Life Lived Well is your preparation for the future. Empower yourself and your loved ones by taking a few minutes to review your 2017 AAFMAA statements, specifically for accuracy in the following areas:
Your Profile Information. Please verify that we have your correct name, address, phone number, and email address. That way, if there is ever a problem with your policy, we will be able to contact you immediately and avoid any lapse in coverage. Updating this information is easy in our Member Center.
Your Policy Information. On the front page of your statement, you will notice two sections that summarize your policy and its activity. For Term policies, your statement provides your face amount and period of coverage, which includes the expiration date. For Value-Added Whole Life and Wealth Builder Life Insurance policies, you will find the cash value of each and our crediting rate — which was a phenomenal 6% in 2017!
Please take a few moments to review your policy’s summary of premiums, cost of insurance, and loan activity. A question you might ask yourself is, “Do I have enough insurance?” Policies are available not only for yourself but also for your spouse, children, and grandchildren. This is a great time to expand your coverage to your entire family and breathe a little easier in 2018.
Your Beneficiary Information. The primary purpose of life insurance is to provide protection for your loved ones in your absence. We urge you to ensure that the named beneficiaries are accurate. Have you had a life event in 2017 such as a death or birth of a loved one, marriage, or divorce? Specifically, if you have divorced and remarried, take a close look at the relationship of your beneficiaries to ensure the intended beneficiary is named.
Also, if you have experienced any of these life events, please contact our Policy Services Team immediately by phone at (800) 336-4538, by email at [email protected], or by downloading our Beneficiary Designation Form from our website and following the submission instructions at the bottom of the form.
AAFMAA is proud to serve active duty military, veterans, and their families. If 2017 brought life changes your way, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will be more than happy to help you.
