Each year on July 25, Veterans are recognized on Hire a Veteran Day. Sarah Bumgardner, AAFMAA Director of Partnership and Member Engagement, took the opportunity to speak with both Rich Comitz, SVP and Chief of Staff, and Leslie Coffey, Vice President of Military Engagement, from American Corporate Partners (ACP), about hiring Veterans into the civilian sector. Their discussion focused on how the organization helps Veterans get hired after transitioning out of the military.
The conversation began with insights on ACP’s mission and the driving force behind the organization, which led into Rich’s reflections on the biggest hurdles servicemembers have in finding meaningful employment after service. Leslie also noted that ACP supports military spouses looking for employment. Mentorship is also part of the assistance ACP provides, so the discussion moved onto the topics of how to become a mentor with the organization and how those looking for a mentor can find one.
Watch below to hear the answers to those questions and to learn more about the services ACP provides.
